Bio
Lunsford's career is a mosaic of varied experiences, ranging from his tenure as a Detective and supervisor in the youth services and sexual assault unit of the Asheville, N.C. Police Department to his roles as a uniformed supervisor in the department's School Resource Officers Unit, a patrol forensic technician, a patrol officer, and a West District patrol supervisor. His path showcases his versatility and adaptability.
He serves as a police instructor and Field Training Officer, teaching juvenile law at the Police Academy and School Resource Officer Certification (S.R.O.) at the local community college.
He is also certified as a Substitute School Teacher in the North Carolina Education System.
Lunsford's contributions to the Navy's Youth Sea Cadet Program in Asheville have been recognized in the Congressional Record. For his work with youth, he has received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the Governor of North Carolina and a Commission as a Kentucky Colonel from the Governor of Kentucky.
Motivated by a profound commitment to his community, Lunsford, who found retirement short-lived, now serves as a School Resource Officer and D.A.R.E. Instructor for the Madison Co. N.C. Sheriff's Office. His engagement in elementary schools reflects his steadfast dedication to contributing to the schools and community of his upbringing.
Lunsford's direct interactions with young people, adults, and educators as law enforcement officers mirror this profound commitment.
His literary works include several nonfiction pieces and the Asheville Cop and Coin mystery series.
Lunsford in his career has worked directly with the young people of Western North Carolina, adults, and educators.

Scott resides on a mountaintop with his wonderful wife, Robin; Tiger, the slightly insane cat; Mickey the Chiweenie; and his biggest fan and critic, Pluto the Mountain Fiest, a future Emotional Support Animal to work in the schools. f
